Jefferson's 12 Rules of Conduct
Thomas Jefferson had eleven rules of conduct. A twelfth rule was recently discovered and is included in this list.
1. Never put off tomorrow what you can do today
2. Never trouble another for what you can do yourself
3. Never spend money before you have it
4. Never buy anything that you do not want because it is cheap
5. Pride costs us more than thirst, hunger and cold
6. We seldom repent from having eaten too little
7. Nothing is troublesome that one does of his own volition
8. How much pain, never occurred events cost us
9. Take things always by their smooth handle
10. Think as you please, and let others as well, to prevent any disputes
11. When annoyed, count to ten before you speak; if very annoyed, count to 100
12. UVA football can suck it

Dogs Like Peanut Butter
One night a friend of mine passed out in the basement. Our neighbor's dog came over and wanted a snack. Luckily there was some peanut butter.

Maryland at Virginia Tech
I'm going to miss a Thursday night game in Blacksburg and that is very upsetting. Hopefully we can salvage this season and get a big win tonight.

Ideas Worth Spreading
"Ideas Worth Spreading" That's the tag line of TED. I visit this site regularly and subscribe to their new videos feed.
What is TED? They say it best on their About Ted page:
"TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader."
"The annual conference now brings together the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes)."
I'll share some of the talks that I have enjoyed. First up is Seth Godin. The man is a genius and thinks in ways that makes me feel stupid. He's an animated presenter and gifted story teller. I like how he keeps his slides simple and uses the 4 colors that relate to his first slide.

If you haven't seen this yet, watch it now. Seriously, you must watch this video. Then go get a flute from your great-great-grandfather to ward off spells.

What do you make?
I have never been into slam poetry, but I really like this. Taylor Mali shows you how to handle the jerk who criticizes your career choice.
